Project dieselbike will show you how to make a diesel bike blow by blow.

Mans machinery has traditionally been known as She and this diesel bike is no exception. She'll go on and on for a long time, she wont burn rubber but will vibrate and has the occasional breakdown to get what she wants.

The styling of your diesel bike is your choice but I wouldn't recommend you make a cafe racer or similar, as diesels are slow on acceleration as well as top end. I think that the laid back custom styling is about right for a diesel bike. I didn't deliberately choose my bike to look like a Harley, I have one of those, it's just that getting custom parts is hard and expensive.

Tank: Harley Davidson: Sourced my old Sportster Speedo: Harley:
This is a 2 US gallon Sportster tank. There is a larger 3.5 gallon version available but not as nice looking. This tank and front mudguard cost £800 just to paint. I guess I'll have to look for a small speedo now I have decided to use the Sportster tank

Front Mudguard: Harley: Sourced my old sportster.
I'm not using this guard anymore as my old sportster guard snapped in half, and not being the  sort to throw anything away I have cut it right down to a nice little shorty. .

Seat: Corbin pillion pad: Sourced 25-Jan-06 from eBay £18 Seat: Sprung: Sourced 25-Aug-05 from eBay £28
What an absolute bargain, brand new and only £10 + £8 special delivery. This is a pillion pad like those used in the 1930's. A smaller sprung seat as  the old Enfield one was way too big. Ok, I know, I'm swapping comfort for looks.

Registration plate: Aftermarket: 18-4-06 eBay £11.99 Engine stop knob: Sourced from eBay £3.19 inc del
If you have a frame that was registered before 1972 then you can use the old black and silver number plate. The down side to this is the black background is not reflective, a disadvantage if you travel a lot at night.  As the engine has no coils to switch off via the ignition switch, it uses a lever at the front of the engine to starve the fuel. This is the knob that will be attached via a linkage to the run stop leaver. I did consider using an 8 ball with a hand gear lever, but thinking about it maybe not.

Rear mudguard: Aftermarket: 16-3-07 ebay £28
Just what I was looking for, a low profile guard is hard to find these days, especially new and un painted.
